Tucson, Ariz.—The Arizona women's golf team is competing in their second tournament of the season in Evanston, Illinois at the Windy City Classic. The Cats are tied for fifth place at 5-under par, 9 strokes under the leader Georgia.
The Wildcats have a combined score of 571 at the Westmoreland Country Club after playing 36 holes.
Junior Jessica Vasilic had an excellent performance Monday. She is tied for third place shooting 5-under par with a combined score of 139 after day one. She leads the Cats, shooting a 69 in the second round. She had 10 birdies combined.
Junior Wanasa Zhou is tied for 18th place shooting a 1-under par with a combined score of 143. Sophomore Krystal Quihuis and Senior Lindsey Weaver are tied for 31st place. Both ending 1-over par and shooting a combined score of 145 after the first two rounds. Weaver started off slow in the first 18 holes shooting a 4-over par but shot a 69 in the second round with a strong comeback shooting 3-under par. Freshman Gigi Stoll is tied for 64th place shooting 7-over par with a combined score of 151.
With 18 holes left, the Cats are looking for a strong finish. They have proved before that they are capable of bouncing back and having a successful finish.
The Wildcats will tee off at 8:15 am CT.
