TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona men's golf team concluded play at the Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational (NCI) on Tuesday. The competition remained on the Pumpkin Ridge-Witch Hallow course for the final round, which has a par of 72. The Wildcats shot a 290 (+2 in the thrid round to finish the competition with a 295(+10)-293(+5)-290(+2)=877 (+17) to place 15th.
Leading the Wildcats in the final round was sophomore Jake Kreuz who shot 71 (-1) to finish the tournament with a final score of 72(+1)-74(+2)-71(-1)=217(+2). Kreuz finished tied for 44th. It was Kreuz's sixth career round of par or better.
Sophomore George Cunningham notched a 72 (E) in the final round. Cunningham's score stands at 75(+4)-72(+E)-72(E)=219 (+4) to give him a share of 53rd place. Sophomore Jordan Gumberg went two over par in the final round scoring a 73. Gumberg finished the tournament with a score of 72(+1)-75(+3)-73(+1)=221 (+6) to give him a share of 58th place.
Redshirt freshman Andrew Garner marked a 73 (+1) in the third round of the tounament. Garner finished tied for 65th with a total score of 77(+6)-74(+2)-73(+1)=224 (+9). Freshman Ari Gulugian finished the tournament tied for 73rd place with a score of 75(+4)-73(+1)-82(+10)= 230 (+15).
The Wildcats will compete in the Arizona Intercollegiate in Tucson, Ariz. on January 29,2015
