Cross Country Arizona Athletics

Men?s & Women?s XC set for U of A Cross Country Twilight

TUCSON, Ariz. The University of Arizona men's and women's cross country teams are set to host their second and final home meet of the season at the University of Arizona Cross Country Twilight at Quincie Douglas Park in Tucson, Ariz. The men will compete the four-mile race at 3:50 p.m. MST while the women will run in the three-mile race at 4:20 p.m. MST.

“It is going to be interesting to see all of our kids run,” head cross country coach James Li said. “They are all finally healthy and it will be a good opportunity for them to run a race. I'm interested in seeing all of our freshmen who are redshirting run as well.”

Matthew Beer, Jeff Gautreau, Alex Hart, Gustavs Kehris, Collins Kibet Patrick Leary, Jonas Legernes, Daniom Tecle, Brendan Tinoco, Seamus White and Sam Willis will be representing the Wildcats on the men's side. Hunter Davila, Bailey Roth, Emilio Vasquez and Carlos Villarreal will be running unattached in the meet as well.

Molly Callahan, Taryn Estavillo, Kayla Ferron, McKenna Gaffney, Claire Green, Margie Moyer, Kate Penney, Tiffany Riley, Kirsten Vergara, Hannah Whetzel and Addi Zerrenner will be running for the women's side.

Last time out, the women took 12th place at the Roy Griak Invitational and the men finished in 19th. Zerrenner was Arizona's top finisher as she clocked a time of 22:13 in the 6K race, earning a 23rd-place finish. Green finished just behind Zerrenner as she clocked a time of 22:15 and finished in 24th place. Collins Kibet was the top finisher for the men as he finished in 71st with a time of 26:24

So far this year, Zerrenner has been Arizona's most successful runner. She has finished in the top 25 each time she has competed and has also been the top finisher every time for Arizona as well. She took second place overall at both the George Kyte Classic and the Dave Murray Invitational.

Quincie Douglas Park is located at 1575 E. 36th St. and is free admission.
