TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona men's golf team competed in the first round of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic in Scottsdale, Ariz. at the north course at Talking Stick today. Initially, thirty-six holes were scheduled for today, but due to extreme winds, only one round was played today. When the first round was completed, Arizona stood in third place on the leader board with a score of 301 (+21).
Wichita State is on top of the leader board after the first round by posting a 294 (+14). They hold a five-shot lead over the Gonzaga Bulldogs. Wichita State's Louis Cohen Boyer led the Shockers by carding a 70 (E) for the first round, good for a tie for first place. Along with Boyer, Kansas State's Curtis Yonke and UC Santa Barbara's Glen Scher also shot a pair of 70s.
Individually for the Wildcats, Trent Redfern led Arizona with a score of 74 (+4), good for a tie for tenth place after round one. Dylan Healey was just one shot behind Redfern as he posted a 75 (+5) for the first round. He sits in a tie for 20th. Erik Oja carded a first round score of 76 (+6), and is in a tie for 27th place. Juan Pablo Hernandez also sits in a tie for 27th with a score of 76 (+6). Alex McMahon rounded out the team by posting an 82 for the first round. After a lineup change, Nick Olsgaard was set to compete as an individual for the tournament, and he carded a first round score 78 (+8).
