TUCSON, Ariz. – Just a day after three Wildcats earned awards for their work in the pool, the Arizona swimming and diving team was commended for its work in the classroom as 18 total student-athletes landed on the Pac-12 Swimming and Diving All-Academic Teams, Commissioner Larry Scott announced on Friday.
Included on the lists, three Wildcats were named to the first team, seven to the second team and eight received honorable mention accolades.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade point average and be either a starter, or a significant contributor.
On the women’s side, seniors Giles Smith earned first-team honors on the men’s side. Salli has now earned first-team honors in all three seasons in which she was eligible. She currently carries a perfect 4.0 GPA.
On the second team, seniors Nimrod Shapira Bar-Or, junior Mitchell Friedemann and sophomore Kevin Cordes were selected from the men’s squad.
Meanwhile, Grace Finnegan and Jeff Amlee, Sean Clark, Matt Hurko and Brian Stevens.
