WACO, Texas ?- The No. 1 Arizona softball team defeated Louisiana Tech at the Compass Bank Invitational hosted by Baylor. Junior pitcher Alicia Hollowell pitched her third no-hitter of the season in the Cats’ 7-0 victory.
Hollowell struck out 16 in her sixth win of the season, allowing just two base runners over seven innings on a wild pitch and a hit batsman. Her season strikeouts now tally 97.
Sophomore Caitlin Lowe led the offense with a four-for-four game, scoring two and driving in one. Lowe took over the team lead in batting average from Kristie Fox with a .528 mark on the season.
Jackie Coburn had her second homer of the season against Louisiana Tech pitcher Lindsey Meadows. Coburn went two-for-three with a pair of RBIs and a run.
Because of rainy weather in Waco, the Cats’ game against Baylor had been postponed until 1 p.m. on Sunday.
