TUCSON - The University of Arizona Wildcat No. 20 men's and No. 3 women's track and field teams competed in the ASU Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The meet took place at Sun Angel Stadium in Tempe, Ariz.

Senior Alyssa Hasslen made her season debut with a win in the women's shot put, throwing 54-10 (16.71m). Sophomore Baillie Gibson finished in second place with a toss 53-10.5 (16.42m). Junior Omotayo Talabi posted a mark of 51-5 (15.67m), earning a third-place finish. Senior Taylor Freeman took seventh place after throwing 47-10 (14.58m).

Gibson took first place in the women's discus throw with her toss of 178-3 (54.34m). Freeman took third place in the discus after throwing 175-3 (53.43m), the third-best toss of her career. On Friday, the lone event was the women's hammer throw, Gibson's toss of 182-11 (55.75m) was good for seventh place. Freeman threw 178-8 (54.45m), good for ninth place in the event.

Freshman Hanna Peterson ran 4:48.76 in the women's 1,500-meter run. Freshman Erin Menefee posted a time of 11:14.10 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

On the men's side, senior Thomas Valente posted a personal-best mark of 9:32.31 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Freshman Siraaj Ghori ran 22.63 in the 200-meter dash and 49.49 in the 400-meter run.
