Two-time National Coach-of-the-Year Andy Lopez is proud to host the 2003
Arizona Baseball Academy at Frank Sancet Field on the campus of the
University of Arizona.
One of only seven active coaches with a national championship to his
credit, the Wildcats' skipper has won over 700 career games and has taken
three different teams to Omaha and the College World Series. His teams have
made nine NCAA regional appearances and have won three regional titles. They
have won seven conference titles and finished with 30 or more victories 16
times.
Major League Baseball has taken 70 of his players in its amateur draft and
he has mentored 19 All-Americans, 20 All-Region and 45 All-Conference
players.
Camp Overview
Campers that attend Coach Lopez's Academy will receive nationally renowned
coaching and intensive instruction with an emphasis on hard work, hustle and
FUN.
Players of all ages and skills are invited to attend the first of the three
five-day camps in July. The instructors and counselors will provide hands on
instruction to help campers learn the fundamentals and techniques of
baseball
The High School All-Star Camps, from July 13-17 and 20-24, are reserved for
the top prep players in the nation to come and compete with the best and
improve their skills.
Coach Lopez, the Arizona coaching staff and a select group of instructors
will help develop the All-Star campers' talents and provide a stage for them
to demonstrate their skills.
Academy Dates
Open Session July 6-10, 2003
High School All-Star Camp I July 13-17, 2003
High School All-Star Camp II July 20-24, 2003
Academy Fees
Open Session $300 Commuter/$400 Resident
All-Star Camp $400 Commuter/$500 Resident
A deposit of half the total fee for the date of your campers session must
accompany the registration form for all sessions. The remaining payment
will be due at camp check-in. Campers may pay the full fee when sending in
the deposit. Checks should be made payable to the Andy Lopez Baseball
Academy. Please DO NOT send cash.
Academy Check-in
Check-in begins at 12 noon, next to the McKale Center ticket office, with
the first session beginning at 3 p.m. on the first day.
Academy Facilities
The Andy Lopez Baseball Academy will be held at Frank Sancet Field on the
campus of the University of Arizona. Home of the three-time national
champion Arizona Wildcats, the beautiful facility provides an excellent
environment for skill development, competition and fun.
Housing
Overnight campers will be housed in the Coronado Dorms located just minutes
away from Sancet Field. The camp rooms are air conditioned and conveniently
located across from the Park Avenue dining hall and a short walk away from
the Student Union.
Meals
Resident campers will be provided with three square meals a day at the Park
Avenue dining hall. Commuter campers will be served lunch at the dining
hall. Snacks can also be purchased at the Student Union throughout the day.
Supervision
The Andy Lopez Baseball Academy takes great pride in the safety and well
being of all the campers who choose to attend. Academy counselors and staff
will be available 24 hours a day during the course of the camp. The Andy
Lopez Baseball Academy has zero tolerance policy towards any disruptive or
unprofessional behavior both on and off the playing field. In the event any
of unruly behavior were to occur, parents will be called immediately and
asked to come and get their son. There will be absolutely no refunds or
credits in such instances.
Academy Essentials
Campers are encouraged to bring the following equipment to enhance their
baseball experience:
* Glove
* Cleated Shoes
* Tennis Shoes
* Favorite Bat
* Batting gloves
* Swim Suit
* Sunscreen
* Catchers Gear (for catchers only)
* Comfortable shorts/T-shirts for instruction and free time
* Practice or game uniform/baseball pants for games
* Towels
* Sleeping bag/Pillow/Single bed sheets

3 p.m. Afternoon Instruction and/or Games
5:30 p.m. Commuter Camper Pickup
5:45 p.m. Dinner
6:30 p.m. Evening Instruction and/or Games
8 p.m. Return to Dorm and Free Time
10:30 p.m. Lights out
