TUCSON - University of Arizona Wildcat women's golf opened the 2013 season with round one at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge on Monday. Held at the Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes, Calif. and hosted by Ohio State, competition will take place Mon.-Wed., Feb. 11-13. One round of play will be contested each day. The Palos Verdes Golf Club is a par 71, 6,017-yard course.
No. 37 UCLA leads the team race with a 288 (+4). No. 4 Duke and No. 3 Florida sit in a tie for second place with a round of 290 (+6). No. 1 USC round out the top four with a score of 298 (+14). No. 7 Arizona sits in 12th place with a round of 307 (+23). Alejandra Cangrejo leads the individual race with a round of 70 (-1).
No. 32 sophomore Kendall Prince paced the Wildcats on day one, sitting in a five-way tie for 30th. She shot a round of 75 (+4). Freshman Janie Jackson and sophomore Andrea Vilarasau recorded rounds of 77 (+6) and sit in 10-way tie for 43rd place.
No. 29 freshman Manon Gidali sits in a seven-way tie for 53rd place. She shot a score of 78 (+7). Freshman Anna Kim rounds out the Arizona five in a two-way tie for 76th place. She shot an opening round of 81 (+10).
