TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona men’s golf team competed in the first and second rounds of the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic today, which was played at San Diego Country Club, a par-72, 7,033-yard course in Chula Vista, CA. As a team, Arizona sits in seventh place after posting a total score of 595 (+19).

San Diego State, who are one of the two host schools lead the tournament as a team after the first two rounds. The Aztecs shot a 574 (-2) on the first day, and sit three shots ahead of TCU, who is in second place. Austin Kaiser, who shot a 141 (-3), and Xander Schauffele, who shot a 142 (-2) helped lead San Diego State get out to the early lead by finishing in the top five individually. San Diego’s Grant Forrest is at the top of the leader board after day one with a score of 138 (-6).

The Wildcats were lead by Junior Dylan Healey. The two shot identical scores on the first day by posting a 148 (+4). Oja and Healey currently sit in a tie for 24th.

Brenden Redfern was right behind them on the leader board after the first two rounds. Redfern finished the day with a 149 (+5) and sits in a tie for 27th. Trent Redfern shot a 152 (+8) on the first day and sits in a tie for 41st. Juan Pablo Hernandez rounded out the team by shooing a 153 (+9). Competing as an individual for the Wildcats, Alex McMahon sits in a tie for 27th place by shooting a 149 (+5) for the day.
