BOULDER, Colo. -

Despite senior Davellyn Whyte’s (Phoenix, Ariz.) 11 points, three steals and three assists, Arizona women’s basketball (11-6, 3-3) fell to No. 21 Colorado (15-2, 3-3), 79-36 on Sunday at the Coors Events Center in Boulder, Colo.

Whyte’s 11 points marked the 26th-consecutive game in which the guard has scored in double-digits, dating back to Feb. 4, 2012.

Sophomore Layana White (Lancaster, Calif.) also added nine points in the contest and the Wildcats had their second-lowest number of turnovers this season with 11.

Other than that, nothing went right for Arizona. The Buffaloes shot 50 percent from the field to the Wildcats’ 25 percent and outrebounded them by 25. Arizona’s 36 points is the lowest point total so far this season.

“They beat us in every category on the stat sheet,” Arizona head coach Niya Butts said. “They played tougher, we weren’t physical and to be honest with you, I haven’t seen our team play like this in quite some time.

Colorado came out big early in the first half, shooting 57 percent to UA’s 23. The Buffaloes outrebounded the Wildcats by 16 and went on two 11-0 runs to lead, 43-15 at the half. Only three Arizona players scored in the first half and Whyte led all players with nine points.

The second half was more of the same, as Colorado continued its hot shooting streak with a 44.1 percentage from the field. Whyte played only nine minutes in the second half, and the Buffs won the game, 79-36.

Freshman Arielle Roberson led CU with 12 points and six rebounds.

The Wildcats will hit the road again to take on No. 14 UCLA on Friday, Jan. 25 at 6 p.m. PT and USC on Sunday, Jan. 27 at 2 p.m. PT.
