TUCSON – With round one and two in the books, the University of Arizona Wildcat women’s golf team sit in second place after day one of competition at the Windy City Collegiate Classic. Hosted by Northwestern University in Chicago, the two-day, three-round tournament is being held at the Glen View Club (par 72, 6,333 yards). Round three will begin at 7:30 a.m. CT on Tuesday.
No. 2 Washington leads the team race with scores of 287 and 293 for a total of 580 (+4). No. 6 Arizona sits in second place with scores of 293 and 289 for a total of 582 (+6). No. 22 Iowa State rounds out the top three with a 586 (+10) after shooting rounds of 296 and 290. No. 5 Amy Simanton of UC Davis and No. 98 Lindsey Weaver of Notre Dame share the individual lead with scores of 141 (-3).
No. 59 sophomore Manon Gidali paced the Wildcats on day one with a tied for third-place finish. She carded rounds of 72 and 71 for a total of 143 (-1). Sophomore Andrea Vilarasau sits in a two-way tie for fifth place. She collected scores of 73 and 71 for a total of 144 (E).
After flirting with the lead in round one, freshman Janie Jackson finished the day in a five-way tie for 13th place. She hit rounds of 72 and 74 to finish with a 146 (+2). No. 24 sophomore Kendall Prince combined for a score of 149 (+5) with rounds of 76 and 73. She currently sits in a six-way tie for 25th place. Freshman Anna Kim rounded out the Arizona five in a five-way tie for 59th place. She picked up scores of 77 and 78 for a total of 155 (+11).
Round three at the Windy City Collegiate Classic will tee at 7:30 a.m. CT on Tuesday.
