Greg Byrne's Wildcat Wednesday
Ryan Hansen
Ryan Hansen is in his ninth year with the UA department of athletics and his first as business development manager. Previously, he served as the men's basketball coordinator of basketball operations for eight years.

A University of Arizona graduate, Hansen handled the program's daily office operations and also serves as the travel coordinator for the team. He assisted with the team's public and community relations, helps with recruiting efforts and handles many duties for Lute Olson's summer basketball camps. Prior to his present post, Hansen served as video coordinator for the Wildcats from 1993-97.

Before the 2000-01 season, Hansen took on the role of scheduling games for the Wildcats. He now works as the main contact in scheduling home and away non-conference contests. Through his efforts, Arizona routinely plays a schedule ranked among the nation's most difficult. Since taking over the scheduling duties, Arizona has played 43 games against nationally ranked opponents, and met a team during the regular season that has played in the NCAA title game in four of those five seasons.

He takes a seat next to Brian Jeffries as the full-time color commentator for the Arizona Radio Network. It is his second season in that capacity. Prior to 2004-05, he had been the color commentator on UA road games since 1997-98.

An accomplished vocalist, Hansen has recorded several albums and toured the country as part of a singing group. He provided one of the truly memorable moments of UA's 2002 Tour of Australia when he came off the bench cold in an emergency to sing the national anthem prior to the game on June 1 in Sydney. He received a standing ovation from the standing-room-only crowd of 554 and then quietly returned to the UA bench.

Hansen graduated from Arizona with a B.S. in health-related professions in December of 1996 and earned his master's degree in educational psychology/physical education at the UA in May of 2001. Prior to enrolling at the UA, he attended Canyon Del Oro High School in Tucson and graduated in 1992.

Hansen was married in July 1999 to the former Anna Lee Collins. The couple has one child, Jack, born in December 2005.
