TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona campus will welcome a new addition to its athletic facilities as construction begins on four state-of-the art outdoor sand volleyball courts at Jimenez Practice Facility, the former home of the football practice fields.
"As a program on the whole we couldn't be more excited that construction is under way on the sand volleyball facility on Jimenez Field,” head coach Steve Walker said. “I've been so impressed with the collaborative effort by members of our administration, the architects, and the construction company to get this project started in such a short window of time. I've seen the design, I've felt what type of sand we will be bringing in and I know prospects, along with our players will be very impressed when it's competed. It's going to have a great beach vibe and aesthetically it will look fantastic."
Stay tuned for continuous construction progress of the facility. The Wildcats will begin their inaugural season of sand volleyball in March.
