Arizona women’s basketball (4-18, 0-11) fell to No. 11 Arizona State (20-4, 9-2), 60-36 on Tuesday night in Tempe, Ariz.

Senior Kama Griffitts led the Wildcats with 10 points, while senior Carissa Crutchfield added nine and Erica Barnes had eight.

Freshman LaBrittney Jones led Arizona with nine rebounds, while junior Candice Warthen dished out three assists.

Arizona led most of the first half, including an 18-8 lead at the eight-minute mark. The Sun Devils rallied and hit back-to-back three-pointers to tie the score at 26 at halftime.

Griffitts scored 10 in the first half, Crutchfield nine and Jones led the way with seven rebounds.

It was all ASU in the second half, as the Sun Devils shot 50 percent to Arizona’s 24 percent.

“We started the second half and didn’t play well on the defensive end,” Arizona Head Coach Niya Butts said. “We talked about it at halftime and we talked about it in the huddle. We just seemed to fall apart in the second half.”

The Wildcats will have a chance at redemption right away when ASU visits Tucson this Sunday, Feb. 9 at 1 p.m. The game will be televised live on the Pac-12 Network.
