Week 8 Recap: The Wildcats traveled to Los Angeles, Calif. last weekend to face UCLA and USC. The Bruins and Trojans both got the better of Arizona by combining to outscore the Wildcats 8-2. Chelle Mahoney and Erica Stephan scored the two goals for Arizona.
Stoian in the Record Books: Sophomore attacker Gabi Stoian was credited with an assist on Erica Stephan's goal on Sunday against USC. She now has 13 career assists, which is fourth on the Arizona all-time assist list. Stoian also has 51 career points and 19 career goals, which are both fifth in school history.
DeGracie's Dimes: Junior midfielder Jaden DeGracie is second on the Arizona all-time assist list with 15 career helpers. She is just four behind Wildcat legend Mallory Miller.
Ironwomen: Senior defender Sheaffer Skadsen has been a model of consistency on the pitch this season for the Wildcats. She has played in 1,181 of the 1,194 minutes this season and has played every minute of the last 12 matches. Fellow senior defender Alexa Montgomery is not far behind as she has played in 1,048 minutes, which is the second-most on the team.
You Get a Goal! And You Get a Goal!: 12 Wildcats have scored a total of 23 goals this season. There has only been one season (2013 with 14 players) where more Wildcats have scored a goal in one season.
Battle Tested: Five of Arizona's 13 opponents have been ranked so far and the Wildcats hold a record of 2-2-1 against them. All in all, Arizona's 13 opponents have a combined record of 102-58-18, which is an average record of 7.9-4.5-1.3.
A Helping Hand: Of the 23 goals Arizona has scored this season, 20 of them have been assisted. 20 team assists ranks third in the Pac-12 and Gabi Stoian's six leads the conference.
Protecting the Cage: Arizona's defense has been impressive all season in terms of allowing goals. The Wildcats allow an average of 1.13 goals per match, which equates to one goal every 80 minutes.
Not up in Here: The Wildcats have kept six clean sheets so far this season, which is the third-most in the Pac-12. The six clean sheets is already the fourth-most in school history. The 2004 squad finished the season with a total of 12.
Newcomers Making an Impact: Three freshmen have scored a goal this season (Kennedy Kieneker, Chelle Mahoney and Erica Stephan). Last year's team only had two freshmen score a goal.
No Longer a Secret: The regular attendance at Mulcahy Stadium this season is something that hasn't been seen before in a long time. The average attendance for the 2015 season is 893 through seven matches. Four of the top 14 crowds in school history have occurred this season, with three of them in the top four.
Eerily Similar: Arizona has taken 50 corner kicks this season, 25 of them have come in the first half and 25 of them have come in the second half. The Wildcats have also committed 130 fouls, 63 in the first half and 63 in the second half (the extra four have come in extra time).
You can Count on Them: Defenders Sheaffer Skadsen and Alexa Montgomery along with midfielder Hayley Estopare have been staples in the Arizona starting XI this season. They are the only three Wildcats to start every single match this season.
Last Time Out: The last time the Wildcats and the Cougars met on the pitch, Washington State was ranked No. 19 in the country, but Arizona came out victorious by a score of 4-1.
Keys to Victory: There have been some trends this season that have been key to Arizona's success this season. When Arizona scores first and when they outshoot their opponent, they have a 7-1 record. When the opponent takes less than 10 shots, Arizona is 6-1 and when Arizona is leading at halftime, the Wildcats have an undefeated record of 5-0.
