TUCSON, Ariz.—The Arizona women's golf team is tied for 11th place with Arizona State after the opening day of competition at the Stanford Intercollegiate. The Cats have a combined score of 299, which is 15-over par. They are 12 strokes behind leader Stanford. The Cardinal shot a 287, 3-over par.
Junior Wanasa Zhou and sophomore Krystal Quihuis led the Cats, shooting 3-over on the Par 71 course. They are both tied for 25th place. Senior Lindsey Weaver is right behind them shooting a 75, 4-over par and is tied for 42nd place. Junior Jessica Vasilic is tied for 55th place, with a 76, 5-over par and freshman Gigi Stoll shot 83, 12-over par. She is tied for 86th place.
The Cats have two more rounds to finish strong. The Wildcats have moved up the scoreboard as play as moved on in their first two tournaments of the year. Arizona will try to build on a round that included three combined birdies from Zhou and Quihuis.
Tee off time Monday will be at 8:30 a.m. MST.
