TUCSON, Ariz. – Lainey Burdett was named the Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week on Tuesday, Oct. 20. She was awarded goalkeeper of the week after making nine saves against 16th-ranked Washington State last Friday, and she kept a clean sheet as well. The Wildcats went on to defeat the Cougars by a score of 1-0.
Burdett is the third Wildcat to win Pac-12 Player of the Week this season as Gabi Stoian won it back on Aug. 25 and Sheaffer Skadsen won it on Sept. 29.
The newcomer has allowed just seven goals in approximately 742 minutes played this season. Burdett has a goals against average of 0.85 and has made 33 saves. She also has a record of 6-2-1 when starting and has accumulated two clean sheets as well.
Burdett's goals against average of 0.85 is the second-best mark any goalkeeper has had in one season. McCall Smith had the lowest mark when she finished with a mark of 0.52 back in 2004.
Burdett and the Wildcats welcome the Oregon schools to Tucson this weekend as Arizona faces Oregon on Friday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. MST and then faces Oregon State on Sunday, Oct. 25 at 1 p.m. MST. Both matches will be live streamed.
