Day In the Life of Paul Magloire Jr./ Practice Quotes 10/21

ArizonaWildcats.com sat down with redshirt junior safety Paul Magloire Jr. this week to find out what it's like to live a day in his shoes. Head coach Rich Rodriguez, freshman Jace Whittaker, redshirt sophomore Jack Banda, and redshirt junior DaVonte' Neal also spoke with the media on Wednesday.

Q: What is your major/minor?

A: My major is Care Health and Societies and my minor is Sociology.

Q: Describe your typical daily routine.

A: I wake up and call my mom and see if my brothers or sisters answer the phone and then I go eat breakfast. After that I go to class and then we have meetings and practice.

Q: How has being a student-athlete helped you manage your time in everyday life?

A: The people over at CATS Academics help us manage our time pretty well because they help us keep track of our time. It’s kind of like a job in learning how to structure your time so when you get older and out into the real world you know what to do.

Q: What do you plan to do after you graduate?

A: Hopefully I will get the chance to play in the NFL and after that I would like to work somewhere in the hospital helping people.

Q: What is the most valuable lesson you have learned in the past four years at the U of A?

A: Don’t take anything for granted and live in the moment. Have fun with what you do because you never know when you won’t have that chance to do it again.

Q: What is your favorite class?

A: My favorite class would probably have to be one of my Healthcare and Societies classes, CHS 204. That is just a class that helps you build your resume and get ready for the work world.

Q: What is your least favorite class?

A: After my CHS classes I would say that they are all pretty much on the same level.

Q: What is your favorite food to have for breakfast?

A: I am a cereal guy but I like to switch it up. I like to have french toast and Cinnamon Toast Crunch. I could sometimes for some Captain Crunch and Fruit Loops.

Q: In your opinion, what is the most important thing about having the title of “student-athlete”?

A: The most important thing is to represent the program in the best way possible. It's important to show the other students that we are not just football players. We are great students who love going to class and making our university proud.

Q: Where is the best place for you to get your school work done?

A: I would have to say CATS academics. There are so many people over there that can help you out and guide you in the right direction.

Q: What do you like to do in your time off?

A: If I have some time off I am definitely going to get on Huddle and Thundercloud and watch some film. Other than that you’ll catch me watching some Netflix. I am a big series guy, I like to watch tv shows so when I am not focused on school or football I will watch a whole series.

Q: What is your pump up song on gameday?

A: There are a lot of songs I like, but surprisingly I like to listen to Linkin Park before games. I like the Linkin Park and Jay-Z collaboration.

Q: What is your number one goal for this year?

A: My number one goal for this year is to hopefully make sure that we go far and win a lot of games as team. We want to win more than anything.

Q: If you could tell the fans one thing, what would it be?

A: Bear Down.

Q: What is your favorite memory from today?

A: My favorite memory from today is probably getting yelled at by Coach Casteel.

Head Coach Rich Rodriguez

On redshirt sophomore defensive lineman Jack Banda..
"We were doing a little recruiting in the Atlanta area and there is some great football in Georgia, particularly in the Atlanta area. He played for a great high school program and we kind of took a little chance because he had to get bigger and stronger, and he has. He played with some of the highest recruited guys in the country and his coach always said the guy everyone is missing is Jack. He has worked his tail off and now he is playing a pretty big role for us. I think he could probably gain another 10-15 pounds but we don't want to sacrifice any kind of speed just for size but the play in our scheme was for him to get bigger. His role now is more of a pass rusher which is certainly what we need this week."

On freshman Jace Whittaker's performance last week at Colorado
"He keeps competing. I have gotten on the corners about playing with confidence and understanding that they are not going to win every play but I want him to be as aggressive as he can be. I think as he gets more experience he will do that."

On senior defensive lineman Reggie Gilbert..
"He swallows up a lot of blockers. In our front, particularly when we are in an even front, obviously we want to always get the pass rush and pressure. Reggie has the ability to play inside and outside in our front. He is just a really good football player."

Freshman cornerback Jace Whittaker

On Colorado throwing at him a lot..
"I expected it. I am a freshman, I knew they were going to come at me. I was hoping they would because that is a little bit more action for me as well as a little bit more excitement."

Redshirt sophomore defensive lineman Jack Banda

On performance from last game..
"I was deemed the nickname "sack master". I finally got my chance to play in more plays than usual. It was great to get those sacks and really just run around and play football."

Redshirt Junior cornerback DaVonte Neal

On facing Washington State this week..
"I think it will be a challenge just because they have a lot of things they can do. We look at it as an opportunity to get better and an opportunity to make plays. They throw the ball a lot which means we will have a lot of opportunities to go and get the ball."
