TUCSON – Sixty-four current and former Wildcats, including 16 All-Americans and 23 national championships will share the field at Hillenbrand Memorial Stadium for Arizona's annual alumni softball game on Sunday, Oct. 25.
Players from the last three decades will be present for the event, which begins at 1 p.m. MST. The alumni will team up with the current Wildcats and be split into two teams.
Five teams will be honored during the event, the 1975 AIAW Women's College World Series participants, the 1995 Pac-10 Champions and the 1996 Pac-10 Champions will be honored after the second inning, while the 1996 and 2006 National Championship teams will be honored after the fourth.
Though the Arizona softball alumni game is focused around the decades of players that have worn the uniform, this alumni game will be a special event for head coach Mike Candrea, who completed his 30th season as the program's head coach in 2015.
The 42 alumni expected to participate in the game include current assistant coaches Stacy Iveson and Caitlin Lowe as well as staff members Shelby Babcock, Chelsea Goodacre and Jessica Spigner. Two-time National Player of the Year Jennie Finch will also be in attendance.
The event is free of charge and seating is first-come, first-served. Parking in Hillenbrand's surrounding lots will be free. Gates will open at noon for batting practice.
