TUCSON - Redshirt juniors Danielle O'Toole and Nancy Bowling combined to no-hit Arizona Western on Friday night in Arizona's first game of the Arizona Fall Invitational. The Cats downed the Matadors 13-0 in five innings.
O'Toole pitched a perfect four innings, needing just 35 pitches to do so. The Upland, Calif. native struck out six of the 12 batters she faced. Bowling faced one over the minimum in the fitfh, striking out one and walking one in her inning of relief.
The offense supplied the duo with 13 runs of support, including a 10-run outburst in the second. Lauren Young hit her second homer of the fall, part of 2-for-2 night at the dish with a pair of RBI. Hillary Edior hit her first home run in an Arizona uniform.
Mandie Perez and Alexis Dotson had two hits in the contest as well.
Arizona got on the board with a Mauga RBI single in the first before breaking through with 10 runs in the second. Young and Edior hit back-to-back homers to get the scoring started before Mandie Perez and Ashleigh Hughes each doubled in a pair. Four more scored on errors in the frame.
UA added single runs in the third and fourth and won the game by the mercy rule, 13-0.
