TUCSON, Ariz. – With the 2016 season just days away, USA Baseball named junior 3B/RHP Bobby Dalbec to the 2016 Preseason Golden Spikes Award Watch List. Dalbec is one of XXX players to be named to the prestigious watch list.
Dalbec has already brought in a cornucopia of preseason awards this winter. He was named a preseason All-American by Louisville Slugger, Perfect Game, D1 Baseball, Baseball American and Hero Sports. D1 Baseball also listed him as the 18th-best prospect in the country.
In 2015, Dalbec batted .319 with 15 home runs, 53 RBI and a slugging pct. of .601. 15 home runs and a .601 slugging pct. led the Conference of Champions and 53 RBI was tied for second. The third baseman was also named to the Pac-12 All-Defensive Team. Dalbec was effective on the mound for the Wildcats last year as he posted an ERA of 3.21. He struck out 48 batters and accumulated five saves over 61.2 innings while making seven starts.
Head coach Jay Johnson and the Arizona Wildcats are set to open the 2016 season on Friday, Feb. 19 in Houston, Texas as they begin a three-game series with the Rice Owls. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. MST.
