TUCSON, Ariz. - Questions and answers with freshman Callen Shelton from Seattle, Wash.

Why did you decide to come to Arizona?

“I’m from Seattle so I wanted to get out of the rain and get some sun.”

What do you hope to bring to the team this year?
“Goals. I have a desire to win so hopefully I bring energy and a spark.”

How do you feel preseason has been going?

“It’s hard. Twice a day is rough but I think our team is starting to get the feel for each other and connecting. We’re all getting on the same page with our goals.”

Why does the sport of soccer suit your personality?

“I think I’m a creative type. As a forward I can be creative in the attack and make things happen. Also, off the field I’m quiet and on the field I’m completely different so it gives me a good balance.”

What was your first impression of Coach Amato?

“He was nice and kind hearted. He is very driven and goal oriented which puts our whole team on the same page. He’s very organized with his practices, also.”

What are you most looking forward to this upcoming season?

“Winning. It’s a fresh city and fresh place for me so I’m really looking forward to the change and doing well.”
