TUCSON – University of Arizona junior running back Ka’Deem Carey was named to his third national award watch list on Friday. A 2012 Walter Camp All-American, Carey is now a member of the 2013 Walter Camp Player of the Year Award Watch List. To date, he has also been named to the Maxwell Player of the Year and Doak Walker Running Back Awards Watch Lists. He is one of nine Pac-12 players recognized by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

Carey was named to eight All-America teams, including Walter Camp, The Sporting News and the Associated Press, to earn consensus All-America honors from the NCAA in 2012. He was named 2012 All-Pac-12 First-Team and ended the season as the nation's leading rusher in yards per game (148.4) and total yards (1,929).

He broke Trung Canidate's single-season school-record rushing mark of 1,602 yards from 1999 in the first quarter of the Arizona State game on Nov. 23. Against Colorado on Nov. 10, he broke the Pac-12 and UA single-game rushing records with 366 yards on the ground. His 1,929 yards rank No. 5 in Pac-12 single-season history. Carey's 24 touchdowns (23 rushing and one receiving) ranked No. 5 nationally and No. 1 in the Pac-12 while breaking the Arizona single-season rushing TD school record.

Also this summer, he was named to Athlon Sports’ 2013 Preseason All-America Team as a first-team running back. He’s also on the College Football Performance Awards All-Purpose Performer and Running Back of the Year Award Watch List. Additionally, Carey was named to Phil Steele's 2013 Preseason All-America Second Team.

The 2013 Walter Camp Player of the Year recipient, which is voted on by the 125 NCAA Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors, will be announced live on ESPN on Thurs., Dec. 12.  The winner will then receive his trophy at the Foundation’s annual national awards banquet on January 11, 2014 at the Yale University Commons in New Haven.
