TUCSON, Ariz. – University of Arizona women’s golf officially opened the 2013 season on Monday with round one at the Dale McNamara Fall Preview in Tulsa, Okla. Also host to the 2014 NCAA Women’s Golf Championships, the Fall Preview is being played at Tulsa Country Club (par 70, 61,36 yards).
Oklahoma State leads the team race with a 278 (-2) with Oklahoma in second place, carding a 282 (+2). Arizona and Duke share a tie for third place, both shooting opening rounds of 283 (+3). Julie Yang of Oklahoma State leads the individual race with a 67 (-3).
Juniors Kendall Prince and Andrea Vilarasau paced the Cats in round one. They share a five-way tie for third place after shooting rounds of 69 (-1). Both Prince and Vilarasau shot their second-lowest career round while playing for the Wildcats on Monday. Making her Arizona debut, freshman Jessica Vasilic sits in a 10-way tie for 21st place with a carding of 71 (+1). Also making their Wildcat debuts, junior Shelby Martinek and sophomore Lindsey Weaver share a six-way tie for 46th place. They fired rounds of 74 (+4) on Monday.
Round two in Tulsa will begin at 8 a.m. CT on Tuesday. The Cats will tee off at 9:30 a.m. CT with Oklahoma State and Oklahoma. Live scoring can also be found at golfstatresults.com throughout the tournament.
