TUCSON, Ariz. –New men’s tennis assistant coach Arron Spencer will make his coaching debut for the Cats this weekend, as they head to the Aggie Invitational in Las Cruces, N.M.
The tournament will run Friday, Sept. 20 through Sunday, Sept. 22 and will feature four players from the program.
“Personally, I am very excited to get to my first tournament as a part of this program,” Spencer said. “I can't wait to see how the guys compete and translate what we have practiced into their matches. It should be a great weekend in New Mexico.”
Other schools at the tournament include Northern Arizona, Arizona Christian, Abilene Christian, New Mexico, Western New Mexico and New Mexico State.
Arizona will showcase juniors Robin Chou and Carlos Bermudez along with sophomores Matt Dunn and Trevor James as they all open their individual seasons this weekend.
Newcomer James, a transfer from Pacific, will join the other three returners to begin the fall season.
“This weekend will be a great test for the guys,” Spencer said. “They are going to get a lot of reps and should have a great feel of where they after the tournament is done.”
