TUCSON, Ariz. – University of Arizona football and the Pac-12 Conference have announced the 2014 football schedule. The Wildcats, coming off an 8-5 record and an AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl win in 2013, will host seven home games at Arizona Stadium and travel for five road games in 2014.
Arizona’s non-conference slate features UNLV on Aug. 30 in the home opener, a trip to UTSA on Sept. 6 and hosting Nevada on Sept. 13. In 2013, the UNLV Rebels were 7-6 overall and 5-3 in Mountain West Conference play after falling to North Texas, 36-14, in the Heart of Dallas Bowl. The UTSA Roadrunners were 7-5 overall and 6-2 in Conference USA action. The Nevada WolfPack were 4-8 overall and 3-5 in MWC play in 2013.
Pac-12 play begins with Arizona hosting the Cal Bears (1-11 in 2013) on Sept. 20. After a bye week on Sept. 27, UA will travel to play at Oregon on Thurs., Oct. 2 for its first weekday game of 2014. The Ducks were 11-2 overall in 2013 and won the Alamo Bowl. October continues for the Cats hosting USC (10-4, Las Vegas Bowl Champions in 2013) on Oct. 11 for Family Weekend. After a bye week on Oct. 18, Arizona will travel to Washington State on Oct. 25. The Cougars finished 2013 at 6-7 and played in the New Mexico Bowl.
Arizona opens November with a game at UCLA on Nov. 1. The Bruins won the Sun Bowl and finished last season with a record of 10-3. The Wildcats will host Colorado (4-8 in 2013) on Nov. 8 for Homecoming and Washington (9-4, Fight Hunger Bowl Champions in 2013) on Nov. 15. The road trips conclude with a trip to Utah (5-7 in 2013) on Nov. 22. In the Territorial Cup, Arizona will host Arizona State on Fri., Nov. 28 in the annual rivalry game, also UA’s second weekday game of the season.
The Wildcats’ 2014 schedule features seven teams that played in a bowl game during the 2013 season. Game times have yet to be announced and will be based on television selections.
Current season ticket holders will receive their renewal invoices via e-mail later this month. Deposits are now being accepted for fans who are not current season ticket holders but wish to be. A $100 per seat deposit will guarantee season tickets for the 2014 season. The McKale Ticket Office will contact fans after a deposit has been made to discuss seating options.
