Senior James Farris match his career high with 10 strikeouts in a complete game shutout as Arizona blanked visiting Alcorn State, 6-0, before a crowd of 2,385 at Hi Corbett Field on Saturday evening. Farris (W, 2-0) went the distance for the fifth time in his career as he captured his second career complete game shutout. The righty scattered five hits and walked just one as he tallied the most strikeouts in a game since he established his personal best of 10 last April 13 at Washington State. Zach Gibbons had a pair of hits from the leadoff spot, while Scott Kingery, Jordan Berger and Joseph Maggi each had two-hit games as well. Berger drove in a pair of runs, including a fourth-inning sacrifice fly and a two-out single in the eighth.
Arizona’s offense erupted for a season-high 20 runs scored on 19 hits, and Cody Hamlin tossed his first career complete game as the Wildcats easily defeated Alcorn State the first game of a doubleheader, 20-1, on Sunday afternoon. Kevin Newman went 4-for-6 with four runs scored and three driven in to propel the offense. Bobby Dalbec launched his second homer of the season and had three runs batted in, while Scott Kingery tied the school record with four stolen bases.

This weekend’s games will not be broadcast in English by the Arizona IMG Sports Network. Broadcasts are scheduled to begin with the start of Pac-12 Conference play March 14 and continue through the end of the season. The Voice of the Wildcats, Brian Jeffries, will call all the action on the broadcasts.

General admission season tickets, seven-game mini-plans and single-game tickets are on sale through the McKale Ticket Office, which is is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in-person or by phone (520-621-2287). Tickets also can be purchased anytime on www.arizonawildcats.com. The Hi Corbett ticket office opens 90 minutes prior to game time this weekend. For all home games, fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance as tickets purchased the day of the game are $2 more.
Print-at-Home is the quickest and recommended method of ticket delivery. When fans purchase single game tickets online or over the phone, they can choose print-at-home and the tickets will be emailed directly to the customer. Tickets can be printed on a home printer and bought straight to the entrance gate to skip any ticket lines.
