TUCSON, Ariz. – Schedule changes for the 2014 football schedule, specifically Arizona’s first two games, have been announced by head coach Rich Rodriguez and the athletics department.
Originally scheduled for Sat., Aug. 30, the Wildcats’ season opener hosting UNLV will be played on Fri., Aug. 29 at Arizona Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 or 7:15 p.m. MST/PT. The television selection info will be announced at a later date.
Arizona’s game at UTSA, originally scheduled for Sat., Sept. 6, will now be played on Thurs., Sept. 4, at the Alamodome. Game time is set for 5 p.m. MST/7 p.m. CT. The television selection info will be announced at a later date.
“We’re excited to add two weekday games to our schedule,” head coach Rich Rodriguez said. “Being so early in the college football season, there will be a lot of excitement surrounding these games.”
With these schedule changes, the Wildcats will now play four weekday games in 2014, including a Thursday tilt at Oregon (Oct. 2) and the Territorial Cup game vs. ASU on Fri., Nov. 28.
“I think these are exciting schedule changes for our fans with national audiences able to watch us play,” Arizona Athletics Director Greg Byrne said. “We had a good crowd for the 2013 season opener on a Friday night and we expect a similar result in 2014. There’s a lot of excitement surrounding our football program right now and these games add to that.”
Football season tickets for both new and returning customers are on sale now. The football season ticket renewal campaign began earlier this month and runs through May 1. However, fans that renew (via full payment or payment plan registration) by March 7 will lock in last year’s lower ticket prices. In addition, fans that renew online by the March 7 early renewal deadline will have the $10 service fee waived and receive $10 in store credit to BearDownShop.com. Football season tickets for 2014 start as low as $99 (less than $15 per game).
Fans wishing to become football season ticket holders for the first time can purchase new seats here or by calling (520) 621-CATS. Payment plans are available for both new season tickets and renewals but must be arranged over the phone with the McKale Ticket Office. For continued coverage of Arizona football, follow the team on Facebook at facebook.com/ArizonaFootball and on Twitter @ArizonaFBall.
