WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – Arizona softball junior first baseman Hallie Wilson was named Pac-12 Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 3-March 9, the conference announced Tuesday.
Wilson (Santa Ana, Calif.) batted .650 (13-for-20) with seven extra-base hits on the week, helping Arizona to a 5-2 week. In her 20 at-bats, Wilson knocked three triples, including one in a 3-for-3 performance against Ball State in which she was a home run short of hitting for the cycle.
The junior slugged 1.150 on the week and drove in 10 runs after entering the week with 14 total runs batted in on the season. She also drew seven walks and was hit by a pitch on the weekend, helping post a .750 on-base percentage in 28 plate appearances.
On the year, Wilson is third on the team with a .456 average, recording four doubles, three triples, three home runs and 24 RBI.
This marks the second consecutive week that an Arizona player has been awarded player of the week; Kelsey Rodriguez received the honor last week.
It is Wilson’s first career citation and Arizona’s second of the year. The recognition marks the 139th all-time for Arizona, the most in the conference.
The Wildcats return to action on Friday when they begin a three-game series at UCLA. The Cats and the Bruins begin the series Friday at noon PDT on the Pac-12 Network.
