Release: March 11, 2014

Arizona senior Kim Stubbe was named Pac-12 Player of the Week on Tuesday, the Conference announced.

Stubbe received the honor after winning both her singles and doubles matches in straight-sets.

She anchored the team’s upset of No. 28 Washington in Seattle, defeating Grace Ysidora, 6-2, 6-2 and helped clinch the doubles point with an 8-4 victory with freshman Lauren Marker.

Earlier in the week, Stubbe lifted the Wildcats to a shutout over Seattle with a straight-set singles win over Anna Lambert, 6-1, 6-0.

“This is a well-deserved honor for Kim,” Arizona head coach Vicky Maes said. “She puts so much of herself in the team and her enthusiasm in practice and matches is incredibly contagious.”

This marks the women’s tennis team’s first award of the year and the first of Stubbe’s career.

“She has been a consistent force for the Cats,” Maes said. “I’m really happy the conference is recognizing her.”

Arizona will take a brief hiatus before hosting three matches in four days next week.
