Wildcat Movement Pushing to Reach 12,000 Members by June

TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will begin its push to reach 12,000 Wildcat Club members by June 2014 through its Wildcat Movement campaign, Director of Athletics Greg Byrne announced on Monday. The Wildcat Movement encourages individuals to invest in success by making a tax-deductible contribution of $100 or more to help support Arizona Athletics. Last year, the Wildcat Club closed with 10,417 members after peaking at 11,220 members at the close of 2012.

“In order for Arizona Athletics to achieve the type of success we all want to have, it’s extremely important that we all pull the rope in the same direction,” Byrne said. “We need everyone to get involved and the Wildcat Movement gives our fans a great opportunity to show their support. This is an exciting time for Arizona Athletics and we hope you’ll join us and help create even more special moments moving forward.”

Now in its fourth year, the Wildcat Movement has a positive impact on Arizona Athletics’ operating costs, its 450 student-athletes and the support system within the department. By joining the Wildcat Movement, members provide assistance in areas that include scholarship costs, academics, life skills, strength and conditioning, equipment and accessories, travel and team building. Each one of these areas, and a number of other items, are essential to providing an environment where student-athletes can reach their potential both academically and athletically, while preparing them for life after college and athletics.

This year’s campaign will feature multiple videos, similar digital components, direct connections and social media elements that aim to educate potential members on the value of joining the Wildcat Movement. In addition to providing support, individuals who join the Wildcat Movement become Wildcat Club members and receive annual giving benefits based on giving level. Additional information regarding benefits can be found at www.wildcatclub.org/benefits/membership-benefits.
