Sand Volleyball Splits in Irvine

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Arizona sand volleyball team split a pair of dual matches on Friday in Irvine, Calif. The Wildcats fell to No. 5 Long Beach State 4-1 before sweeping past IrvineValleyCollege, 5-0.

The Wildcats moved to 6-5 on the season following the split. Long Beach State improved to 6-4 on the season after picking up two victories on the day.

Arizona opened the day by falling to No. 5 Long Beach State, 4-1. The Wildcats were led by the No. 4 team of Penina Snuka and Allie Cook as they picked up a solid straight set victory over Joy Miley and Makayla Taylor, 21-17, 21-15.

The No. 1 team of Madison and McKenna Witt put together a strong effort against Delainey Aigner-Swesey and Bojana Todorovic but eventually fell, 21-15, 19-21, 15-13.

LBSU took the other three matches in straight sets.

The Wildcats will be back in action Saturday, April 12 for the two-day USA Volleyball Invitational. The tournament will take place in Los Angeles at 9:00 a.m.
