Cobb to Join Arizona as Sr. Assoc. A.D. for Business Ops

TUCSON, Ariz. – University of Arizona Athletics has named Ross Cobb Senior Associate A.D. for Business Operations, Director of Athletics Greg Byrne announced on Monday. Cobb brings 17 years of experience in collegiate athletics after spending the last 11 years at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), most recently as the Senior Associate A.D. for Business and Facilities. He will join the staff in June 2014.

“We’re excited to welcome Ross to Arizona Athletics,” Byrne said. “With one of our five goals and principles being to practice sound fiscal management, this position is extremely important to the current health and future growth of the athletics department. Ross brings a successful track record of operating within budget, while managing the intricacies presented in collegiate athletics. We think he’ll do a wonderful job and look forward to working with him.”

While at UTSA, Cobb oversaw the department’s $25 million dollar annual budget as well as all facilities. He also served as the sport administrator for baseball and women’s volleyball teams. Cobb was elected President of the College Athletic Business Management Association (CABMA) during the 2010-2011 academic year and was voted CABMA Manager of the Year in 2012.

I am looking forward to meeting everyone in the Wildcat family and getting to work on June 1.”

Prior to his time at UTSA, Cobb served as Assistant A.D. for Business at Georgia Southern University. He also served for five years as the Sports & Information Systems Controller for The Landings Club, Inc., a private golf club located in Savannah, Ga., and in a variety of athletics administration roles at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, La. from 1993-97. 

Cobb has a bachelor’s degree in finance and a master’s degree in business administration, both from Georgia Southern. He and his wife Bridget, a former track and field and cross country student-athlete at Texas A&M Commerce, have three children, Jordyn, Jackson and Jodi.
