TUCSON, Ariz. – The Arizona sand volleyball team will take part in the first-ever Pac-12 Invitational this weekend (April 19-20) at the Annenberg Community Beach House in Santa Monica, Calif.
The Wildcats (6-8) are the No. 3 seed in the six team tournament. USC (17-1), which is ranked No. 1 in the country, will be the top seed in the event. Loyola Marymount (7-8) comes in as the second seed followed by fourth-seeded Bakersfield (6-8), fifth-seeded Arizona State (3-2) and sixth-seeded Cal Poly (1-7).
The top two seeds receive first-round byes as play begins on Saturday, April 19, with matches between the Wildcats and Cal Poly at 8 a.m. PT, followed by ASU and Bakersfield at 9 a.m. The Trojans will take on the winner of the ASU-Bakersfield match at 10 a.m., followed by LMU against the winner of the Arizona-Cal Poly match at 11 a.m. First-round losers will have a chance to play back into a semifinal with duals set for noon and 1 p.m. Semifinals will be played at 2 and 3 p.m., with the championship match at 4 p.m. PT.
On Sunday, April 20, pairs from Arizona, USC, ASU and Bakersfield will be seeded into a 20-team single-elimination bracket. Play begins at 9 a.m. PT and concludes with a pairs championship match at approximately 2 p.m.
