TUCSON, Ariz. – No. 13 sophomore Lindsey Weaver and No. 47 freshman Wanasa Zhou, members of the No. 8 University of Arizona women’s golf team, have earned post-season honors from the Pac-12 Conference, it was announced on Thursday.
The league office announced its 2014 Pac-12 Women’s Golf First-Team, Second-Team and Honorable Mention All-Conference honorees. Of the 11 conference teams who participate in the sport, nine programs were represented on the teams. Arizona was one of seven teams with multiple award winners.
Weaver was named first-team All-Pac-12 in her first season with the Wildcats. She earned a runner-up finish at the 2014 Pac-12 Championships last weekend and was Arizona’s top finisher in five tournaments this season. She holds a stroke average of 72.20 with six top-10 finishes and seven top-20 finishes.
Weaver earned Arizona’s 32nd first-team all-conference honor since its 1987 inception. The Wildcats have had a first-team all-league honoree four of the last five seasons. Additionally, 2014 marks the 28th season of Pac-10/12 women’s golf and UA has had a first-team honoree in 21 of the 28 seasons.
Zhou was named Pac-12 Honorable Mention in her first season with the Wildcats. She earned her fifth top-20 finish with her 20th-place performance at the 2014 Pac-12 Championships last weekend. With a stroke average of 73.95, Zhou was Arizona’s top finisher in three tournaments this season. She holds a season-low round of 69 with six rounds shot at or below par.Arizona was selected for the NCAA Central Regional Championships, it was announced earlier this week. Oklahoma State will host the event at the Karsten Creek Golf Club, in Stillwater, Okla., May 8-10.
