Arizona senior Lacey Smyth was selected to play in the NCAA Singles Championships on May 21-26 in Athens, Ga.
Of the 64 players selected nationwide, 16 qualified automatically after winning a conference championship. Smyth was one of 48 players who received an at-large bid from the selection committee for the third-straight year and was one of 17 players selected from the Pac-12 Conference.
This will be Smyth’s third appearance in the singles championships, after advancing to the second round in 2012 after defeating the country’s No. 10 player and falling in the first round in 2013.
Smyth played at the No. 1 singles spot in every match for the Wildcats this season, facing some of the nation’s top talent. She posted an impressive 17-6 record, including wins over six ranked players.
