Kingdon Named Preseason All-Pac-12

TUCSON – In a poll of the conference’s coaches, senior outside hitter Madi Kingdon was named Preseason all-Pac-12, the conference announced .

Kingdon, an all-Pac-12 performer as well as an honorable mention AVCA All-American, led the Wildcats with 508 kills in 2013 to go along with a .207 hitting percentage, 31 assists, 36 service aces and 378 digs. It is the second consecutive season that Kingdon has been recognized on the 14-member preseason squad.

Also in a vote of the coaches, Arizona was selected to finish ninth in the conference in the preseason poll. The Wildcats received 51 points in the poll.

Stanford edged USC atop the preseason poll. Both the Cardinal and the Trojans received five first-place votes, but Stanford received 114 total points, one more than USC’s 113. Washington, which received the remaining two first-place votes, finished third with 106 total points. Arizona State (73 points), California and Oregon (70 points apiece) round out the top six. The Wildcats open their season against South Dakota in Green Bay, Wisc., on Fri., Aug. 29. Following the Wisconsin Tournament, UA will take on Alabama State in the home opener on Fri., Sept. 5 which kicks off the Arizona Invitational.
