TUCSON, Ariz. - Four University of Arizona men's golfers were named to the Pac-12 Conference's golf all-Academic teams, commissioner Larry Scott announced today.

Alex McMahon and Erik Oja were first-team selections, while Trent Redfern was a second-team pick and Benson Liu earned honorable mention kudos.

McMahon, a sophomore from Oro Valley, Ariz., posted a 75.25 scoring average in 36 rounds played and tallied six rounds at par or better. He competed in 12 events in 2012-13 and notched a low of 70 to go with two top-20 finishes. It marks the first time that he has been an all-Academic selection by the league.

Oja, a junior from Sandviken, Sweden, posted a team-leading 72.83 scoring average in 42 rounds played and tallied 15 rounds at par or better. He competed in 14 events in 2012-13 and notched a low of 66 to go with four top-10 finishes. He was a first-team honoree last year as well.

Liu, a junior from Taipei, Taiwan, posted a team-leading 76.89 scoring average in 19 rounds played and tallied two rounds at par or better. He competed in six events in 2012-13 and notched a low of 69. It is the first Pac-12 all-Academic honor for Liu.

Redfern, a senior from Austin, Texas, posted a 73.60 scoring average in 14 appearances (42 rounds) this season. His low round was a 67, which he accomplished twice. His best finish was a tie for eighth place at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate in September. Redfern was an honorable mention all-academic selection as a sophomore and a second-team honoree last year.

"We are very proud of our team's commitment to excellence in the classroom," said Arizona head coach Jim Anderson. "It is rarely a coincidence when your leaders on the team are also some of your best students. Trent, Erik, Alex and Benson have stepped up in many ways this year and having four all-academic members is a terrific honor."

Arizona men's golfers have been named to the league's all-Academic team 34 times since 1990.

To be eligible for selection to the Pac-12 all-Academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
