LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Gymnast Aubree Cristello successfully represented the Arizona women’s gymnastics team at the 2013 NCAA National Championships. Despite having one difficult event, the Glenville native wrapped up her career with a 12th place finish in the all-around with a 39.075.

The meet began on floor for Cristello, where she posted a 9.850 – the third highest score of the session, and the fifth highest score of the night.

“Aubree did a great floor set. Being the individual all-around competitor in the first rotation is a tough position for anyone to be in – Aubree really rocked it,” Ryden said.

Event number two was slightly problematic; after a large hop forward on her landing, Cristello earned a 9.600 on the vault.

“Aubree had a ton of height and was vaulting great in warm-ups, but she overpowered her competition vault. It was a beautiful performance, it is just unfortunate how she ended up bounding out of it,” Ryden commented.

The senior was able to wrap up the meet successfully, earning a pair of 9.800’s. On bars, she tallied a 9.800 for the seventh highest score of the session, and on beam she earned a 9.825 for the fifth highest score.

“The girl never quits. There aren’t enough superlatives I can say to describe the magnitude of Aubree’s presence. She’s put out so many routines, has almost never missed a set and is a rock solid role model. I don’t think there is anything more that any one gymnast can do for a program than Aubree has done for ours,” Ryden concluded.

The NCAA National Championships will continue throughout the weekend, with the Super Six team finals tomorrow (Saturday, April 20) and individual event finals on Sunday (April 21). Live video feed and statistics will be available through the NCAA National Championship website.
