TUCSON, Ariz. Arizona soccer completed practice Wednesday night at Murphey Field at Mulcahy Stadium. The Wildcats are set to host Hawaii in their final non-conference match this Fri., Sept. 20 at 7 p.m.

Below are head coach Tony Amato and sophomore Alexa Montgomery’s comments following practice:

Head coach Tony Amato:

What were your thoughts coming in to this week after the first loss?

“The biggest thing is to get better. We saw it as a set back and we saw things in the video that we need to improve on and don’t want it to be something that kills our confidence and turns into five in a row that we drop. We look at it as what we did right vs. what we didn’t do wrong and move into the next game. We saw it as a setback but it is something we put behind us and focus for the next game. ”

Is there anything specifically you would like the team to work on this week?

“We’re increasing the defensive shape. We want to make sure we’re a hard team to play against and that’s something that we’ve been working on this week and we feel it will carry us into Friday.”

Sophomore Alexa Montgomery:

How do you feel the team reacted after the first loss?

“We were upset but we wanted to work hard at practice and come out here this weekend and beat Hawaii.”

Is there anything in particular you feel your team needs to work on?

“This practice we worked on defense and we’re trying not to get scored on again. We want a shutout for this weekend.”

How has your role on the team changed from last year to this year?

“This year I have been playing a lot more and helping the team win by defending.”
