TUCSON, Ariz. – After finishing 2-1 at the Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Volleyball Challenge in Honolulu, Hawaii over the weekend, the Arizona volleyball team returns home to close out non-conference play as it hosts the Wildcat Classic inside McKale Center on Friday and Saturday.

Arizona (7-2) will open the tournament on Friday against Loyola Maryland (2-7) at 7:00 p.m., followed by a match with Wofford (5-6) on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and concluding against UC Santa Barbara (3-6) on Saturday at 7 p.m.

The Wildcats had a solid weekend in Hawaii as they earned a pair of four-set victories over Northwestern and Portland State. Meanwhile, Arizona dropped a tough match against host and No. 7 Hawaii, 3-1, to close out the tournament.

Junior outside hitter Madi Kingdon was and sophomore middle blocker Olivia Magill were named to the all-tournament team. Kingdon averaged 5.83 points, 4.92 kills and 4.17 digs per set, while Magill averaged 3.20 points, 2.30 kills and a team-best 1.60 blocks per set. Kingdon had three double-doubles on the weekend and now leads the Pac-12 with five on the season. Magill earned a double-double in the win against Portland State, where she had a career-high 10 blocks.  

The Wildcats have been one of the best defensive teams in the Pac-12 as their 17.59 digs per set leads the league, while their .137 opponent hitting percentage ranks third in the conference. Arizona already has 12 combined double-doubles on the year, the most of any team in the Pac-12.

About the team: The Greyhounds head into the weekend with a 2-7 record and they are led by Faye Lukas and Jac Bullock with 87 kills each. Loyola is hitting just .143 as a team. Lauren Anderson ranks fifth in the Patriot League in assists as she is dishing out 9.31 per set.

Nickname: Terriers

Conference: Southern Conference

About the team: The Terriers head into the weekend with a 5-6 record after winning their last two matches. Wofford has won four of its last six matches after starting the season 1-4. Amanda Liguori and Taylor Baird pace the offense as each is averaging at least 3.00 kills per set. The Terriers excel behind the service line as they lead the SoCon in services aces with nearly 2.00 per set. They have four players that rank in the top-10 of the league in aces.

UC Santa Barbara

Location: Santa Barbara, Calif.

Nickname: Gauchos

Conference: Big West

About the team: The Gauchos enter the weekend with a 3-6 overall record, but they have faced some stiff competition so far. Four of the six losses this season have come against top-25 opponents which includes No. 2 San Diego, No. 5 USC, No. 8 Stanford and No. 22 Colorado State. Kara Sherrard is fifth in the Big West in digs with 113 at 3.14 per set, while Leah Sully leads the offense with 3.06 kills per set.
