TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona athletics department is giving fans a new opportunity to experience some of the gameday activities at Arizona Stadium. Through social media interaction and the use of the current game hashtag (i.e. #AZvsUCLA), Wildcat ticket holders will have the chance to take part in a number of events leading up to and surrounding football games throughout the rest of the 2013 season.
Each week, the athletic department will offer five different opportunities for fans to feel part of the Arizona football program. Starting with a helmet announcement from Arizona football’s official Twitter account @ArizonaFBall, fans will be asked to engage in various interactions that will result in their inclusion in the weekly gameday experience contest.
The three experiences that fans will have the opportunity to take part in on gameday consist of joining Director of Athletics Greg Byrne for the Wildcat Walk, running out with the team from the Lowell-Stevens Football Facility and accompanying Byrne to coach Rodriguez’s postgame press conference.
For the Wildcat Walk experience, fans must tweet a photo of them tailgating to @ArizonaFBall that includes their ticket to the game and the accompanying game hashtag (i.e. #AZvsUCLA). One lucky fan will be selected and announced by @Greg_Byrne and notified one (1) hour prior to the Wildcat Walk via Twitter direct message. Director of Athletics Greg Byrne will meet the selected fan at the bus drop-off point (corner of Cherry and University) and a member of the UA marketing staff will escort the fan through the experience.
Usually reserved for members of the football program, one lucky fan will have the chance to feel the rush of exiting the tunnel and taking the field with the Wildcats. In order to be eligible for this experience, fans must tweet a photo to @ArizonaFBall from inside Arizona Stadium that includes the scoreboard clock in the background and the game hashtag (i.e. #AZvsUCLA). The selected fan will be notified 30 minutes prior to the team entrance via Twitter direct message. A member of the marketing staff will meet the selected fan at their seat and escort them through the LSFF north entrance and into the tunnel. From there, the lucky fan will get to be with the team as the anticipation builds for the team entrance, and when the countdown clock hits zero, they’ll be right there when the doors open, accompanying the Wildcats when they hit the field.
To wrap up the gameday experience, one fan will win the opportunity to join Byrne for head coach Rich Rodriguez’s postgame press conference. Fans must submit a photo to @ArizonaFBall from inside Arizona Stadium at the start of the fourth quarter that includes the scoreboard clock in the background and the game hashtag (i.e. #AZvsUCLA). The selected fan will be notified with 10 minutes to play in the game via Twitter direct message. A member of the marketing staff will meet the selected fan at their seat and escort them to the press conference room at the conclusion of the game.
Early in the week, fans will have the opportunity to ask Coach Rodriguez questions that will then be asked on the Rich Rodriguez Radio Show, which airs on Wednesdays from 7-8 p.m. during game weeks. All you have to do is submit your question by tweeting @ArizonaFBall, while using the game hashtag (i.e. #AZvsUCLA).
Moving through the week, fans will be asked to share photos, links, memories and/or experiences that will qualify them to be selected as the person to announce Arizona’s uniform combination for the coming week. Once they've been confirmed as a ticket holder, that fan will be provided a photo of the uniform combination that they can tweet from their personal account. That tweet will then be retweeted by @ArizonaFBall, @AZAthletics and @Greg_Byrne to aid in the dissemination of the announcement.
All of these experiences are once-in-a-lifetime opportunities and we’d hate for any Wildcat fans to miss out. For fans with tickets to upcoming games, we thank you for your support and look forward to seeing you at Arizona Stadium. For fans that don’t, now is the time to purchase your tickets and not only support your team, but also get yourself eligible to take part in one of these unique gameday experiences.
