TUCSON, Ariz. – University of Arizona junior running back Ka’Deem Carey and senior linebacker Marquis Flowers earned honorable mention accolades at their respective positions from the College Football Performance Awards, it was announced on Monday.
Carey was named CFPA Honorable Mention Running Back of the Week. In Saturday’s 35-24 win over Utah, Carey toted the ball a school-record 40 times for 236 yards and a game-clinching touchdown His 236 rushing yards rank as his second-highest career tally and the third-highest in Arizona single-game history. He became only the sixth player in program history to rush for 3,000 career yards and now ranks No. 5 all-time in school history with 3,159.
Flowers was named CFPA Honorable Mention Linebacker of the Week. In Saturday’s 35-24 win over Utah, Flowers picked off his first interception of the season and returned it 14 yards for a touchdown, also his first career score. He finished the game with four tackles and one pass break up. On the season, he’s collected 37 total tackles, including 18 solo, with 4.5 tackles for a loss of nine yards and recovered one fumble for 36 return yards.
The Wildcats will play the first of back-to-back road games next weekend when they venture to Colorado for a 5 p.m. MST tilt with the Buffaloes.
