TUCSON, Ariz. Arizona soccer completed practice Wednesday night at Murphey Field at Mulcahy Stadium. The Wildcats take on Washington State Fri., Oct. 25 at 2 p.m. and Washington on Sun., Oct. 27 at noon.

Below are Head Coach Tony Amato and junior transfer Gabby Kaufman’s comments following practice:

Head Coach Tony Amato:

Coming off a huge road win over USC, what’s the team’s mentality this week?

“We are in a great place. It was a big win for us and it’s just like any game, we take positives out of it and we see things we need to get better at. We feel confident but we also know we have things we need to fine tune as we go on in the season. We’re excited about the win but our mind is focused on the games coming up.”

How will your team be preparing for Washington State?

The biggest thing for this week is to learn what we did wrong in the last game. We have seen them play a little bit so we are putting in a game plan to make sure our players are in a position to be successful.”

Junior Gabby Kaufman:

What’s the team’s mentality after the big win over USC?

“Everybody is really excited. We want to keep moving forward and continue to build off our win against USC.”

What are you most looking forward to closing out the season at home?

“Being on our home field in front of our fans is going to be huge. They're always supportive and cheer us on.”

What do you think the team needs to improve on most?

“We have five games left and this is when people start getting tired. Our mentality needs to stay strong and our last games are tough. We have gone through 15 games already and this is the final stretch so we need to stay strong mentally.”
