Join the Wildcat Club | 2014 Season Tickets on Sale
TUCSON, Ariz. – Members of the University of Arizona baseball team ditched their bats and gloves in favor of telephones Thursday evening. A group of veterans spent more than an hour making phone calls to express appreciation for the support they receive from the loyal members of the Wildcat Club.
Among those hitting the phone lines was senior James Farris, the starting pitcher in the decisive championship game of the 2012 College World Series. He was joined by juniors Jordan Berger, Xavier Borde, Trent Gilbert, Joseph Maggi, Riley Moore, Tyler Parmenter and Mathew Troupe, along with sophomore Kevin Newman.
“Establishing a relationship between us and the community is a great experience,” Troupe said between calls. “It has been great to get to know some of our fans on a personal level. We appreciate the support of every single member and hope more and more people join each year.”
A majority of the calls were to baseball season ticket holders and donors, each of whom has been instrumental in the success of the Arizona program in recent seasons. Reserved season tickets have been sold out each of the last two years at Hi Corbett Field.
“It’s a good experience for us,” Gilbert added. “These people help our program a lot and we are thankful for that. We wouldn’t be where we are without the support they give us. Anytime we can show our appreciation, it’s worth it.”
