Soccer Continues Pac-12 Homestand

TUCSON, Ariz. – University of Arizona women’s soccer moved to 7-6-4 on the season after dropping a 4-0 decision to Washington State on Friday and tied Washington, 2-2, in a double overtime draw Sunday.

In the match vs. Washington State, Arizona recorded a total of 10 shots with freshman Lexe Selman leading the team with four. Sophomores Kaitlyn Lopez and Sheaffer Skadsen each recorded two shots a piece. Goalkeeper Gabby Kaufman recorded a season high of nine saves on the night.

Against Washington, junior Alexandra Doller scored her sixth goal of the season in the 64th minute to put the Wildcats on the board. With 16 seconds remaining in the match, Lopez tied up the game off a free throw from teammate Jaden DeGracie. The Wildcats outshot the Huskies, 22-7, with senior Jazmin Ponce leading the team with seven.

On the season, Ponce leads the team in goals with 10, shots with 70 and game-winning goals with five. Doller ranks second on the team in goals with six and 35 shots, 16 on goal. DeGracie leads the team in assists with six and has taken 15 shots, including seven on goal. Lopez’s goal against Washington added to her five-goal total for the Wildcats.

Junior goalkeeper Gabby Kaufman has recorded a total of 81 saves with a save percentage of .786. Kaufman has held four teams scoreless including Florida Atlantic, UC Riverside, No. 24 Ohio State and Oregon State.

In the Pac-12, Arizona ranks second in the conference for goals with 33 and goals per game averaging two goals per contest. Ponce is tied for first place for game-winning goals with five and ranks second in the conference in shots with 70. Kaufman is ranked No. 1 for saves with 81, averaging 4.76 saves per game.

The Arizona defense has held their 17 opponents scoreless for a total of 1,149 minutes, including four shutouts against non-conference opponents Florida Atlantic, UC Riverside, No. 24 Ohio State and Pac-12 opponent Oregon State. Six matches have been decided by a single goal (Florida Atlantic, No. 11 UCLA, No. 2 Stanford, California, Oregon and USC).

Up next, the Wildcats match up against Utah on Fri., Nov. 1, at 3 p.m., and No. 25 Colorado on Sun., Nov. 3, at noon. Both matches will be played at Murphey Field at Mulcahy Stadium. The match vs. Utah will be televised on Pac-12 Networks.
