TUCSON – The University of Arizona Wildcat men’s and women’s track and field teams will compete at Roy P. Drachman Stadium on Saturday, Dec. 14, in the Winter All-Comers Meet. The track and field program is split up into three teams, red, white and blue. The teams are chosen through a draft process. The blue team won in 2012 and will look to defend their title. The meet will be scored in a 7-5-4-3-2-1 system and only the athletes from Arizona are eligible to score. It is an All-Comers meet and walk-up registration is available for a fee of $5. Registration begins on Saturday at 8 a.m. The field events begin at 9 a.m. MST and the running events start at 10 a.m. This is not an official meet; therefore the marks set by the student-athletes will not count towards NCAA qualifying marks.

For the blue team, junior Baillie Gibson is set to compete in the women’s shot put, discus, hammer and javelin. She is a six-time all-conference honoree and a four-time NCAA All-American. Junior Shakayla McEaddy will compete in the high jump for the blue team. She competed at the NCAA West Regionals in 2013. Senior Germe Poston, an all-Pac-12 honoree in the 100 meters and 200 meters last year, will run the 60-meter dash, 150-meter dash and compete in the 4x300-meter relay on Saturday. Sophomore Jonny Giess will compete in the men’s high jump. Redshirt freshman Aaron Castle will compete in the hammer, shot put and discus.

On the red team, senior Nick Ross will compete in the 60-meter dash, long jump and high jump. Ross is a seven-time NCAA All-American and he has claimed an NCAA title in the high jump as well. Senior Julie Labonté is set to compete in the hammer, shot put, javelin and discus. Labonté has won two NCAA Championships; she is a seven-time NCAA All-American and has won three Pac-10/12 Championships in the shot put. Senior Shapri Romero will run the 150-meter dash, 600-meter run and compete in the 4x300-meter relay. She is a two-time NCAA All-American and a six-time all-conference honoree. Senior Tamara Pridgett will run in the 4x300-meter relay with Romero as well as compete in the 60-meter dash and 600-meter run. Pridgett has earned All-America accolades twice for her work on the 4x400-meter relay team. Freshman Gerhard De Beer, the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, will compete in the hammer, shot put, javelin and discus.

For the white team, senior Omotayo Talabi is set to compete in the women’s hammer, shot put, javelin, and discus. Talabi is a three-time all-conference honoree in the shot put. Redshirt freshman Jordan Young is also competing in the men’s hammer, shot put, javelin and discus. Junior Jovon Cunningham will compete in the triple jump. He was a 2012 NCAA All-American in the event. Sophomore Bernard Dickerson-Quinn will compete in the 150-meter dash, 600-meter run and the 4x300-meter relay.
