Wildcat Men's Junior Varsity Golfers Place 18th

Coto de Caza, Calif. The University of Arizona men's junior varsity golf team placed 18th today at the Spalding/Anteater Invitational, which was held at the Coto de Caza Country Club (Par-72, 6,736 yards).

The Wildcats shot a 54-hole total of 55-over-par 919 to place 18th in the 20-team tourney. The University of Washington won the tournament after firing a 22-over-par 886, winning by six strokes over Stanford. The Cardinal placed third at 892 and UCLA was third with an 894.

Individually UCLA's Brandon DiTullio led wire-to-wire to win the tournament by four strokes. He placed first with a 3-under-par 213 and Les Philips of North Texas was second at 1-over-par 217.

For the Wildcats, freshman Reid Hatley was the top finisher, tying for ninth with a 4-over-par 220 (71-79-70). The rest of the UA lineup included Brandon Smith (T-41st, 228); Patrick Norris (T-68th, 233), Ryan Meyer (T-88th, 238) and Aaron Friedman (T-104th, 251).

The men's varsity golf team will be in action on April 7-9, when it plays in the U.S. Collegiate Championships in Los Cabos, Mexico.
