Arizona's Derek Gillespie in Sixth Place at Savane All-America Classic

EL PASO, Tex. Arizona senior Derek Gillespie is in sixth place at the Savane College All-America Golf Classic. Gillespie shot a 1-over-par 143 (69-74) in the first round today at the El Paso Country Club (Par-71, 6,781 yards) and is two shots behind BYU's Andy Miller who is in fifth place at 1-under-par 141.

Clemson's John Engler leads the field at 7-under-par 135, while Georgia Tech's Matt Kuchar is a shot back in second place. Ryan Vermeer of Kansas is in third place at 3-under-par 139 and David Gossett of Texas is a shot back in fourth place.

The Savane College All-America Golf Classic is celebrating its 25th anniversary and features two dozen of the top men's collegiate golfers from across the nation. The tournament concludes with a final round of 18 holes tomorrow.
